to batik or not to batik;

;that is the question i am currently contemplating.  i found some old batiks today and it made me long for the process of batik, which has been my first love for over 30 years.  the problem is how to batik in a tiny flat.
the process is complex and messy and i don't know how to proceed without a proper studio.

Batik in an ancient wax resist method of  decorating cloth.  A design is painted with molten wax, then the fabric is submerged in a dye bath.  this process is repeated for each color in the design.  Finally the wax is removed, often leaving tiny veins of color called " crackle" and characteristic of much batik work.
